loving these essie colors this week...

This color was precious on. Not too pink, not too orange..and definitely not coral. Just the perfect color!

"Cute as a Button"

This color I love because you can wear it all year long. I will definitely be wearing this color into the fall season...I'll just apply a thicker coat to make it a bit darker. Right now I'm wearing it as more of a neutral and just applying 2 thin coats.  It ends up a nice sage color. 

"Sew Psyched"

For the bold nail polish girls! This is a fabulous blue to try because it turns out as bright as it looks in the picture...definitely a keeper.

Another love of mine is interior design.  I have recently wanted to start my own headboard line but we'll give the current job some time to marinade first... fun colors, interesting shapes, and unique textures are a few of the things that inspire me.  You can transform a room by simply changing a wall color, or getting a new duvet cover.  Here are just a few of my favorite images (there are too many to pick from)....

summer reads

Don't you just love a good book? The kind that you CAN"T put down. The kind that you think about non-stop whenever you aren't reading. And the kind that when you finish, you don't think you will ever find another book as good? Well I do!

Here are a few of our favorite reads this summer...

Meg's picks:

You will finish this book in no time because it is just that good. You'll fall in love with the 5-year-old little boy who tells the story. I love it because although it's dark, it's also witty and light-hearted at the same time. And the way the author writes is unique and unforgettable!

Glass Castle is one of those books you can't believe is a true story. It is the author's personal narrative of  her life growing up, and her story is unbelievable.

This series by Suzanne Collins is amazing. I have already demanded my friends read them and you should read them too. I never read the Harry Potter books or Twilight series so this is my first series to obsess over and I love it. The movie is coming out in 2012 and the cast looks fantastic and I cannot wait! 

 

Anything by Candace Bushnell goes to the top of my reading list. This book is a must read if, like me, you feel like you personally know Carrie Bradshaw. In this book you'll get to know her even better by going through her high school days with her.

(One drawback...this book is located in the Teen Fiction section...so if you can get over the embarrassment of buying a teen book I promise it will be worth it.)

It was love at fist click!!! I don't even use the regular camera on the phone anymore. It just pales in comparison to the awesome effects that the Hipstamatic adds.

Some of my favorite pieces of jewelry are the simplest necklaces or bracelets, which is why I love Dogeared jewelry. All of their dainty charms have special meanings and make fabulous gifts. I am constantly looking for new Dogeared pieces to add to my jewelry collection and it is the first place I look when I need a quick, but meaningful, gift for a certain person. One thing I love about Dogeared is their special pieces geared towards best friends, moms, brides, and bridesmaids. Whenever you wear a Dogeared piece I guarantee you will receive many complements!

If you have a love for all things vintage, handmade, or rustic you must know about Etsy.  If not, you are sure to lose countless hours searching all of the precious shops. I have narrowed my favorites down over the years and hope you like them too.

Blue Bird Heaven is one of my favorite shops on Etsy. Blue Bird Heaven makes incredible jewelry displays from old printer drawers in several different colors and sizes. What a fun and cute way to decorate a wall AND show off your jewelry.

We all know how scorching hot it is here in Texas and we try to find relief any way possible... swimming, drinking water, eating large amounts of ice cream.... but Elliot, this furry friend has got it all figured out!!! Isn't this hilarious?!?

essie lover

Being a loyal essie nail polish lover, I want to share my favorite colors this week with you. (I change my nail polish about 4 times a week...obsessed). This week I am loving Muchi Muchi on my toes. It is a nice pastel pink and complements your summer tan!

For my manicure, Sand Tropez was a nice neutral touch. I had to apply 3 coats to achieve the color I wanted, but was very happy with the finished look.

And last but not least, Lapis of Luxury is a fabulous color for your nails. The pale blue is a splash of color but not too harsh for those who don't like to wear crazy nail polishes. Once again, it complements your summer tan and who wouldn't want that! 

I buy my essie polishes at Ulta, but several places carry it if there is no Ulta near you. Try these colors and you will be a loyal essie lover like myself!
